Manja Velu Review


Yesterday I went to watch the movie Manja Velu which starred my favorite start Karthik in a important role after a long gap and also i had no choice of movie.

When i booked the ticket and went to watch the movie along with Kaviraj i had nothing to complain as I picked him by 8.30 PM and took him for dinner & went straight to the theatre.

The movie had hilarious comedy track from Santhanam. Karthik sizzles as usual and it is nice to see him after  long gap. Would be nice if Hero would have reduced on his style and punch dilaguw which didn’t suit him. One unexpected treat is the heroine who sizzles through out. Her name is Dhanishka and this is her first movie. She is very tall and has resemblance to Asin & Sunaina. Hope she will have a decent run in Kollyhood. Overall movie was a good masala movie which was not boring.

Invictus Motivates But Drags


Just reached home after watching Invictus for second time. Though the movie has couple of motivational for Freeman it looses sheen when it comes to Rugby & for Matt Damon. Infact movies like Lagaan & Chack De India were much better and entertaining than this one.

Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon & Client Eastwood has raised the expectation and this being a real story the movie could have been taken much better. But one good part is the movie is not boring either.

I’ll watch the movie once again to collect & document all the famous quotes from Freeman.

Watching Yadhumagi


Being a Sunday & Sunaina starrer I decided to watch the movie YadhuMagi. Right from first scene it is boring and scenes move without any connect.

Just only an hour has passed and crowd has gone restless. Only enjoyment is listening to the comment of the crowd.

One thing I’ve decided is to watch the movie fully. But for sure No Review for this movie.

Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya Rocks!!!


Last saturday i was dawm tired and still i managed to escape to Vinnai Thandi Varuvayaa. Hectic traveling, roaming in mahabs fair & the mid-night show made me very tired and immediately entering the theatre i slept.

After the movie was over my friends were talking high about the movie and i didnt want to miss it again. I went with the same team to the movie once again yesterday. I enjoyed every part of the movie.

After watching the movie i drew lots of parallels with my life. I’m sure director must have experienced all this in his life and he has brought the reality very well.

I can say people only with failed love can enjoy the movie and as expected the reviews from people without that experience was not great.

I heard other than Chennai there was a happy climax in other parts of the state and also in the Telegu version. But I’m happy that i was able to see a climax which i expected.

Also i must tell this that I’m not a fan of Simbu and in this movie he has really rocked. I dont know if he is going to carry this lesson and be a directors product. Hope to see a changed Simbu. Talking about the director i’ve no words to say. He simply rocks.

Given an opportunity i want to interact with Gautam Menon to understand his experience.

Asal Rocks Madurai


I’m a Big fan of Thala Ajith and i didn’t have an opportunity to watch his movie in madurai where people go crazy for a Mass hero like him.

Though i missed that excitement i got some snaps of banners displayed by his fans. Madurai folks are know for their innovating writing skills and also for publicity stunts.

Asal Rocks


Asal is a treat to Thalai’s fans!! It is out and out Ajith’s show & one can see Ajith’s fans flocking to theatres and going bizzared on seeing his name and his entry.

Personally it was a great experience as a couple of my friends were fans of Vijay and they made all possible attempts to stop me from seeing the intro of Ajith. It was one of the rare occasion where i drove rash and used honking. Finally i made it to Mayajaal in 30 min from Kodambakkam & also made it on time for the movie.

Movie zooms in quick pace and there is no space for any discomfort. Though the music was a bit disappointing it gels well with the movie. Stunts were world class and so were the Costumes.

Sameera has done justice for her role and she has shed her dress more than in Varanam Ayiram and she is hot. Also Bhavana has equally competed with Hot Sameera.

Comedy is handled by Yugi Sethu. Though it is not greatest of comedies it is not boring either. One irritating aspect is there were some Vijay fans who were disturbing.

Over all it is yet another Hit for Ajith.

Goa Review


These days Kollywood directors have become too adventurous and they are experimenting different things. Though the movie comes good or not I’m happy because they setting new dimension to tamil cinema. Last weekend watched the movie GOA twice. I like the movie for two reasons;

  • One because it is produced by my sweet heart Soundarya Rajinikanth
  • Two it is A Venkat Prabhu movie.

First thing i can tell about the movie is it doesn’t disappoint and it is worth spending the money. Venkat has created a niche for himself and he doesn’t disappoint his audience. As usual there is not story line and it is the screenplay that is directors strength area.

The concept of Gay relationship in tamil cinema is different and that has been showcased very elegantly and also there is a Gay duet which is also cool. Yuvan has rocked with his music and all songs rocks. Premji excels in acting. I don’t know how Sampath Raj excels in acting in Venkat Prabhu movies alone. In all other movies he is mediocre. He has really shown expressions and mannerisms which gives a feel of watching a real gay.

I don’t know why Vijay is made a bhakra in almost all movies these days. Over all it is a perfect holiday to GOA.

Chance Pe Dance Review


My favorite of the new generation is this Kapoors yes it is Shahid & Ranbir. Yesterday i went to see Chance Pe Dance starring Shahid Kapoor & Genelia De’souza. First half of the movie moves very fast with more fun and it is more of a present day young man’s struggle to make a career for himself in a new city.

Second half of the movie is not boring but it lacks the punch in it. Struggles are not highlighted and everything looks like happening like a cake-walk. Director has neither shown a mentor like Chack De nor makes it difficult for the Hero to make it Big.

So here goes my review;

  • Shahid has rocked in acting & dance. He has done his part well.
  • Genelia has done her part well.
  • Music is average.
  • Director has handled a good subject very lightly/casually.

Second half hero takes up a job of a dance master in a school and he makes them come first in competition. Dance performance was shown so lightly and the schools wins the cup as expected.

Then there is a twist where in his fathers shop in demolished and shahid returns home to stay with his father to give him a moral boost. His father sees the reality show only then and asks his son to get back.

In climax hero is late for the show and he easily convinces the judge and he wins it easily. Infact in the reality show we are never shown the competitors and it is only shahid and it becomes as if hero makes it unopposed.

I really love subjects where someone really fights it hard to create a niche in his career. Something which is shown well in Rocket Singh. Anyways for a normal cinema goer it will not be boring and it is worth the money.

Kutty Review


Kutty is one other movie which i watched for Pongal. This movie had more expectations next to Aayirathil Oruvan since it starts Dhanush. It is a remake of Telegu super hit flick Arya 1.

Since the concept is an one liner (A guy tries to win over a girl who is already in love). Movie depends more on screenplay. So i want to share my thoughts on character.

  • Dhanush has shown he is a natural actor and has done his part well. But i can say he has taken this role too lightly and has given a performance less than what he is known for.
  • Shriya Saran has an image with Kollywood audience and there is a conflict between her image & her character in this movie. Otherwise she has done her prat.
  • Sameer Dattani alies Dhyan a Kannada hero has debuted as Villain in the movie. He has over performed and was below average in his acting too. Don’t know if he has followed the way he acts in Kannada or is it because of his lack of understanding of local language? anyways he got to improve if he needs a hold in kollywood.
  • Devi Sri Prasad has let us down with his music after giving a marvelous performance in Kandasamy.
  • Comedians Aarthi, Srinath, Mayilsamy were all wasted and comedy is by comedians in mediocre.

Movie is a good entertainer and can be watched with family & it is not boring.

Aayirathil Oruvan Review


Yesterday we went for back to back shows for Kutty & Aayirathil Oruvan. Second one has more PR than the latter because this is from Selvaragavan after a long while. And also the Hero has acted after a gap of 2 years after debut. So, movie created a lot of buzz.

First of all i must acknowledge the efforts of the crew and give an applause to Selva for his bold experiment and have this experimenting attitude. But movie has lot of inspiration from;

  • King Solomon Mines
  • Inidana Johns
  • Myth
  • Gladiator

and more hollywood movies. Movie keeps the the excitement till the climax. I some what feel Director got confused or lost track during the climax. Even things were happening in rain & at night and nothing was clear & unable to understand what is happening.

I think director tried to invoke some thing which had happened to LTTE, but that is my thought and not sure if he tried the same.

Then he had an abrupt end and left the doors open to develop a sequel. Talking about the characters;

  • Reema Sen is hot and she sizzles in her acting too. She owes a lot to Selva for giving her such an opportunity.
  • Karthi looks like a puppet Hero. He is not utilized well and don’t know why he was made to underplay soo much.
  • Parthiban has come back after a long gap and he has shown elegance in his acting and he justified his role.
  • Andrea again has shown good glamour. But doesn’t have much to do in second half.

There are lots of loose ends in the movie but we can forgive them because of the initiative they have taken. On the plus side characters have been nicely tied and explained how they converged. Also Selva has opened the corridors to other film makers in Kollywood and hope we will get more such movies which other wise would be possible only in a Hollywood movie.
