What is in a Filter Coffee?

What is soo special about a Coffee/Filter Coffee??

I keep wondering often, because;

  • Coffee post in Instagram gets a lot of Likes..
  • Post in FB gets Likes and Comments..
  • In Twitter it increases my followers..

Just wondering what is soo attractive about Coffee to get this much traction…

So, with this instinct I’m planning to venture into Coffee Business… It might sound wired but true… Venturing on instincts!!!

I’m sure this Social Media traction will also apply to in person traction and get business…

Ricky Ponting and his attitude towards SUCCESS!!!

It’s a story about Ricky Ponting, one of the Greatest Cricketers to have ever approached the game.

The trait that made Ponting different from other cricketers was his sheer attitude towards the game. It was his never-say-die spirit. It’s a revelation of that attitude.

Someone once asked him the secret to his ability to find the gaps in the field. His answer was simple, yet revealing.

He said, “Every batsman surveys the field before taking strike, and usually the fielders get imprinted on his mind. They can almost see every fielder in their mind’s eye.

But in my head, I don’t see the fielders. I only see the gaps!”

And that as his tally of runs shows made all the difference.
We could all take a leaf out of Ponting’s book:-

  • Don’t focus on the obstacles.
  • Look for opportunities.
  • Focus on your ability to solve the problems.

Life in many ways is like a game of cricket. There will be fielders out there who will stop you from scoring those runs.

There will be an opposing captain who will try his hardest to place the fielders in a manner that will make it difficult for you to score those runs.

Your job is to find the gaps.

Next time, you see a problem or an obstacle, think the Ponting way. And see the gaps!

No matter what, success will be your’s!!!

Tooting my Horn

Started my career as a very low profile kid being an introvert, shy and self-deprecating person… Perceiving entrepreneurship for years has helped me erase all the negative traits in me and was able to instill a bunch of new traits and personality on to me…

So, What is one trait which is my favourite?

Self-Motivation!!! That was the first trait I wanted to instill on me and I that is my favourite…

Why Self-Motivation?

As an entrepreneur I needed loads of motivation in my early days… I lacked a mentor to motivate me or support me… So, was left with no other choice than building the trait of self-motivating me every day… I did following things to keep my motivation levels up;

  • I started reading Success Stories of entrepreneurs…
  • Keep listening to Motivation songs…
  • Started reading motivation quotes a lot…
  • Pasted posters with motivation quotes in my room & workspace…
  • Wake up by thinking a motivation story or quote everyday…
  • I take timely breaks to rejuvenate the mind…
  • I blog to flush out all the trash in my mind…
  • I talk and work with positive attitude people alone…

These initiatives slowly became an habit and from then on I needed no motivation for anyone else to pump me up… Though I still keep fighting uncertainties, inefficiency, criticism, fatigues & reasoning to push me up to reach my pursuit… I never fell short of motivation…

This is Tooting my Horn about a favourite thing about me!!!

Drawing a Blank

It was during 1995 and I was in my teens… Those days most of my friends and me were soo impressed and influenced in becoming a Don… Infact most of us tried to demarch an area like a neighborhood or schools to build our network/gang…

That is when one of my friends brother was hit badly by a school gang… It gave us a realtime opportunity to go for a road fight with a real time gang… We have never been thru such real fights in the past…

We immediately mobilised my neighborhood gang and marched directly into the Tigers den (to opponent gangs place) without any preparation…

We were fortunate enough to catch the leader of the gang alone and immediately our boys showed our might… It looked one proud moment to me..

In a predictable way our folks were aggressively over the lonely guy and;

  • He was humiliated!!
  • He was threatened!!!
  • He was teased!!!

We also made him apologise to my friends brother… With all the pride we started walking back like a lion…

Hardly crossing 100 meatres his gang came and they started chasin us… In a jiffy all the Don’s who accompanied me started running… I had to elope from the scene too to avoid any humiliation and I started running by shouting I’ll make a Perfect Comeback soon 🙂

My athletic skills those days help me to run fast and escape without getting caught… That was my moment of Drawing a Blank

For couple of years I had to live with the stigma of humiliation and I felt like a loser for a long time… Now looking back at those crazy days and silly thoughts I could just not stop laughing!!!

Big Decisions in My Life!!!

Since the time I started my career I had been put under a lot of situations to travel the path of normal life…

Frankly I was not OK in being a common man… I wanted to take The Road Less Traveled and make an impact…

So, I’m fortunate enough to come across tough situations and had to take a lot of big decisions to come across the odds…

Becoming an Entrepreneur: I’ve written it many times but let me tell it again… I had to overcome emotional pressure from my parents, no experience, no financial support and no mentors… It was criticism from all corners…

Breaking up of Partnership: Had to break a eight year partnership where I had to forgo a company I started…

Launching CCS: Started this company immediately after quitting from my previous venture… This was something started with the pain points of previous venture… Again no investment and it was a purely & professionally bootstrapped company…

Launching CT: It is version 2.0 of my previous venture… Launched it after getting peanuts as settlement..

Handling Legal Issues: For almost two years I had to face legal issues from my previous venture’s stakeholders… Facing the legal challenges has taught me how to handle things legally in India..

Breaking my Engagement: This is one decision which puts me into guilt sometimes… But we have to take some decision to avoid unnecessary complication after marriage… In fact that was a part of life where I thought if entrepreneurs are fit to get married..

Reinventing my Technology Business: Wanted to change the culture of the company and brought in a new CTO… Within a year the entire company collapsed expect my CTO & me… We again started it from the scratch and rebuilt the team as well as the company…

All the above things were big decisions in my life which I faced it and survived it!!

Suffered from Writers Block for last three days

Last three days I was stay put at in-laws house because of Ligament Strain… Couldn’t believe how these three days have taken a toll on my writing… Literally I couldn’t think, write or express anything…

I couldn’t even brainstorm the reason for the block and that is when I shared the situation with my friend Swaminathan… He explained me Writers Block and he said I’m suffering from WB bug..

So, I didn’t want to prod for reasons anymore and went out of home… Just wandered around Masaniamman Kumban Festival… That gave some rejunavation to my mind…

Immediately after coming home I could post a blog on the festival celebrations and now composing this blog…

Tomorrow I’m again starting my drive and hope my mind will be fresh enough to think and can win over Writers Block Syndrome!!!

10 Indian foods we believe are ours, but they aren’t!

Samosa

One of the most globally famous Indian food, Samosa has a special corner in every Indian house. This tea-time snack is originally from Middle-East. Termed as ‘Sambosa’, samosa came to India in 13th-14th century by the traders from Middle East. We Indians added our spices and techniques to ‘sambosa’ and as result we got our samosa.

Filter Coffee

Coffee was not a part of India till the 16th century when it was smuggled into the country, by Baba Budan, on his pilgrimage to Mecca. On returning, he cultivated coffee and the drink soon became popular. Indians would drink coffee without milk and sugar in place of liqueur. Filter coffee was popularized by Coffee Cess Committee when they set up their first Coffee House in then Bombay in 1936.

Gulab Jamun

This favourite Indian dessert originated in the Mediterranean and Persia where it is called as luqmat al qadi. Originally luqmat al qadi is made up of dough balls deep fried, soaked in honey syrup and sprinkled with sugar but in India we modified the recipe. It is one of the most loved sweet dishes in India.

Chai

You can’t imagine India without Chai. But do you know the chai that you have been drinking, since so many years thinking that its Indian actually belongs to China. Chinese used it as a medicinal drink and British wanted to break China’s monopoly in tea market, so they introduced chai to India. In fact, it was only in the 1950s that tea became so popular.

Jalebi

Jablebi is famous all over the country in different forms. While North India loves their thin and crispy jalebis, the South Indian version consists of thicker and has a slightly different shape. This ‘desi mithai’ is originally from Persia and Arabic region. Called as Zalabiya in Arabic and Zalibiya in Persian, this sweet crispy dessert has a no where connection to us.

Dal Bhaat

The typical Indian food Dal Bhaat, is eaten in various forms all over India. Dal Bhaat is actually of Nepali origin and it was through North Indian influences that the dish entered India and spread throughout the region.

Rajma

Rajma or Kidney beans not Indian. The bean was brought to India through Central Mexico and Guatemala. Kidney beans are one of the most important ingredients in Mexican food. The treatment of kidney beans is different in India and Mexico. There is no second thought that even after knowing the origin of kidney beans, it will make any difference to our heavily taste of ‘rajma-chawal’.

Naan

The taste of butter chicken, kadhai paneer is reduced if it is not served with naan. The Americans and Europeans have recently discovered the joys of this bread and love pairing it with their chicken tikka. However, naan is not Indian but was brought to India during the Mughal era. Naan has its roots in Persian cuisine though the form of leavened bread is actually Iranian.

Vindaloo

This Goan cuisine has Portuguese origin. It has been adapted from the very famous carne de vinha d’alhos which is the Portuguese name for Vindaloo. Originally, Vindaloo was made of wine, pork and garlic and though Indians modified it by using palm vinegar, pork/beef/chicken and multiple spices.

Shukto

This delicious Bengali delicacy has Portuguese origin. Portuguese influence on our food is evident especially Goan food and it reached to Bengal too. Indian influenced the food by adding more vegetables and milk and making of it more Indian.
