Our Iyyapanthangal Outlet got damaged by fire!!!

Our Iyyapanthangal Outlet got damaged by fire. It was very unfortunate and frustrating news to start the day with.

Got a call by 5 AM from one of my director that our shop got damaged because of fire.

Must thank the cops and fire fighters for bringing down the fire and for their support.

They say it happened because of gas burst, but we had no gas inside the outlet. It was all induction based appliances. But there was no point in investigating.

This outlet in Iyyapanthangal has many first;

  • It was our first Coffee Outlet.
  • It was our profitable outlet.
  • It was our flagship outlet.
  • It was located near to my house.

This is the picture of the outlet when our honorable CM of the day passed away. There was no shops open and I took the risk to run the outlet to serve the people. Many people including cops appreciated us for keeping it open as there was no shops open near the vicinity.

For, now I’ve to thank the cops, fire fighters, my friend Ravi and the Land Lord for their support during this tough time.

Now, we are considering many options and one of the option is to completely close down the outlet.

Got a new address

Starting up is always fun!!! You are always left with limited resources and you keep coming up with ways to counter limitations!!!

One such situation is setting up a corporate office for Temple Town Coffee!!! Though we are fortunate enough to have the support group companies (Cogzidel Technologies Pvt & Cogzidel Consultancy Services) to bootstrap us with required resources and infrastructure, we didn’t want to bother them too much with our request.

Also we didn’t want to disturb the professional culture of those entities with would unruly startup work culture!!

Also we spend most of the time on driving in search of locations and meeting people. So, we found it unnecessary on investing for a office and was working out ways!!!

That is when my co-founder Balki, came with the recommendation of setting up a SOCO(Small Office Car Office).

Our SOCO includes;

  • Swift Dzire car!!
  • Reliance 4G WIPOD!!
  • 2 Laptops!!
  • One official mobile!!
  • Power Bank!!
  • Portable Power Inverter Adapter!!

A look at our powerful gadgets;

That’s my Laptop!!!

So, mostly we use Truck Bay Lane’s as our office.

This is our new Madurai office address;

Truck Bay Lane
NH7, Nilakottai.

Small Office Car Office

Since we are not a Technology company, Balki and me decided not to invest on Gadgets. So, we got contentented with gadgets which are not being used by our friends.

I got this broken Laptop of my wife, which is damaged but with small tweaks, uninstalling unnecessary applications and downgraded version of Linux, I’m able to get a good performing system.
This is our customer support phone which was given to Balki by his aunt.

Also this is Balki’s old Laptop which he uses to work and do some weight lifting exercise ;)!!

I’m fortunate enough to get back to startup life and by comfort zone of breaking and fixing this!!

For now heading to my kitchen to explore the recipe of Karupatti Kaapi!!!

An evening to remember!!!

It was an ordinary day at the shop!!! I went to the shop by 4 PM to work on some new beverages we were planning to introduce!!!

Already rumours have started to spread about CM!!! It was panic and I could see the roads crowded and people driving crazy to reach home!!!

Around 5.30 PM there was a news from Thanthin TV that the CM is dead!!! Within minutes all the shops, showrooms & offices were closed!!!

That is when thought of keeping the Shop open until our normal closing hour!! I asked Jegan if we could do that and he spontaneously said we can!!!

Then what?? We sent all the lady staff home and we kept the shop open!!! It was electrifying crowd and we couldn’t manage!!!

In 3 hours we had almost 100+ bills, 200+ foot falls and all the raw materials at shop got over!!! In fact we closed the shop  only when the milk got over!!!

In between there were some party workers who insisted to shut the shop and the situation was diffused by Jegan!!!

We had people thronging the shop as there were no shops… People were requesting for;

  • Milk for kids!!!
  • They were asking for all the cookies as they had no stock of snacks!!!
  • Some had not choice to eat and they settled for coffee and snacks!!!

My main aim to go for the risk is to get the mileage and to earn the customer visibility & loyalty!!! Fortunately we were able to strike both as customers were thanking us for keeping the shop open against the vulnerability!!!

Finally I’d like to thank Jegan, Sabastian, Ravi & Chandru for supporting me on this risky endeavour!!!
