How CogzidelHR FaceBook Page idea came??

During October 2011 when we didn’t have an HR and there were 14 unfilled openings… I was not in Madurai and was thinking of ways to close the openings…

With following initiatives being a failure;
– Head Hunting thru Naukri…
– Posting banners at joints…
– Asking for employee reference…

I thought of creating a blog and they to promote it and get people… I posted a blog and started doing SEO and when I was looking for other alternatives I ran thru the idea of promoting thru Facebook…

I posted Job Opening job link on my Facebook timeline and asked all my Madurai friends and all cogzians to share it in their timeline…

We got around 200+ likes in a day and we got more than 200 people coming for interview in a single day…

We closed all 14 openings… It was then I thought of having a page for HR which could used as a tool to hunt talent…

That is when http://www.facebook.com/cogzidelHR was born…

Travelled seeking Divine Help

My uncle called up yesterday asking me to visit our Kula Deivam (Family God) temple and pray for dads quick recovery… Immediately planed the travel and I also thought of visiting Vaitheeswaran Kovil too which is some 20KM from our native Chidambaram…

Day before travel was very hectic, slept late and had to wake up early to pick my wife… My mom wanted me to start by 6AM but we started our drive by 7.30…

Originally planned to going to Kula Deivam temple by 10.30 AM finish the darshan by 11 AM and the goto Vaitheeswaran Kovil by noon finish POOJA there and return back to Chennai by 1 o clock…

But we couldn’t go as per our plan as we were able to reach china bharar only by 11.45 for unexpected delays and we altered red the plan…

– Stopped at Porur Jalagandesswar templa to get assorted flowers… Got only rose…
– Stopped at Guduvancherry to get assorted flowers…
– Filled petrol at MaraiMalai Nagar…
– There was a small commotion at Dhindivanam toll and will blog separately about it…
– Travelled thru Vikravandi, Panrutti, Neyveli, Vadalur and Bhuvanagiri… Roads were bad with lots of potholes…
– It was 12 and we went to Vaitheeswaran Kovil as it will b closed by 1 PM and temple will be opened only by 6 PM…
– Reached Vaitheeswaran Kovil by 12.30PM and we finished doing archanai for 5 main gods…
– Finished our lunch with temple prasadams Coriander Rice, Sugar Pongal and Curd Rice with some Murukku…
– Immediately proceeded to Kula Deivam temple…
– Reached temple by 2.30 PM and had good darshan…
– Enjoyed the beauty of our village, the breeze and the harvest…
– Started to drive back to Chennai…

Overall had good darahans, prayed for my dad and Spent to spend some time for my wife….

Also must thank my wife who travelled non-stop for 20 hours, for giving company, giving moral support and finally for the Badam milk she sponsored….

One memorable year for our CTO

Yesterday(31/01/2013) it was a day to remember for two reasons… First it happens to be my dads birthday and second our COGZIDEL CTO Sam alies Mr.SwamiNathan completes his first year…

It all looks as if it happened yesterday…. After a month long meetings with coffees Sam reported to service surprisingly… Yes I call it a surprise because he asked for a year to complete his notice….

If he stood by his word he must have reported only yesterday….

I think he must have got his dream run in this year… We planned a lot of things and visions like;

– Make it a 250 members company in a year…
– Strengthen our products portfolio…
– Build a Business Analyst team…
– Strengthen the cold-calling team…
– Add a service line called Testing…
– Implement measurable process…

Those were core agenda for first year… We started with a bang and start looked good… But to our surprise there were lots of undercurrents, myths, resistance and acceptance for change… Infact we haven’t accomplished any of the above listed things….

But we had a great run as we complimented each other, we broke myths, overcame criticism, shared grievances, lived a life of poor, walked long, we learned to unlearned and we did a lot….

Inspite of all odds we ran with hope and energy… Finally there started the light at the end of the tunnel… We started taking control over the situation and slowly we are able to implement things which we wanted to implement last year…

Overall it was enjoyable year and I wish and thank Swami for all the support…. I wish him good luck for the years to come….

Uncertain Times

Last six months have been very testing…. For a person who is motivated, decisive and tough; it is very challenging as it is a time which tests that basic trait….

Yes I’m running thru the trauma of my dad’s health for six months now… Always my parents have given their best to my sister and me in spite of their middle class earnings… They are soo god-fearing, impractical & ordinary common people…

Have been struggling to bring back dad by making him mentally tough and help him win over tough times… Unfortunately I couldn’t push him and make him mentally tough….

Am standing helpless watching him being weak, indecisive and fragile… As am emotionally connected too him I had to bog down to his ordinary ways…

Now left the destiny to god and walking thru with blind hope… Wish god gives mental strength to my dad…

An Answer I needed…

Something so obvious is so obviously forgotten…

Habits, karma and and relationships are just a few of the things that can entirely control us without being in our control……

The only way to bring sanity back into our existence is to be sane and do what we can to control our impulses, our emotions and our minds…… from reacting without due process……

The secret of sanity is to stop reacting….. Start acting…….
That is…….. you do not allow the conduct of others to define what you do….. You act in a manner that forces others to act the way you want them to act……

What I say here can be used to create heaven or hell for yourself and all others around you….. All I will say and caution you here is …. Remember that there are two kinds of error in tennis……

Unforced errors and forced errors…… Forced errors arise because we try and respond and react to everything that goes on around us…. You are therefore playing the game your opponent wants you to play and he/she already has a first mover advantage….. There is very little chance that you will win the round…..

The point is to play the game your way….. do not react to what the other person is saying, doing or acting….. Think through your mind/intellect/heart, decipher what you want out of the interaction and then just do what you want to get what you want…. make sure however that what you want should lead to a win win situation for all parties…….

If you always play your game such that a win win win situation gets created all the time, you get what you want, you get what they want to give you as a bonus plus you get to bask in love of all around you…..

Take control of your life by first identifying what you want out of life….. Life is far more than ending up being the richest person in the cemetery…… Now spend time in earning what you want in life….. How do we go about that ?

Let us say you want to earn money….. How do you do that ? In order to earn money, you need to invest money……

You want to earn happiness, you need to invest happiness….
You want fulfillment, you need to invest fulfilllment….

Just as if you want mangoes, you need to plant a mango seed….
Do not expect mangoes if you plant apple seeds……

So therefore if you want true control of your life, learn to plant your own trees, rather than live off the fruits of the trees of others…… What they give you, they control…. do not complain if they serve themselves first……

Trees take a long time to mature and give fruit…. plant your seeds now….. it will take time for them to grow…….

Plans collapsed… But enjoyed!!!

It was 8 PM and called Karthick to check what was he upto… He just got up from his afternoon sleep… We were thinking a lot to engage into some fun activity… We thought of;

  • Going to Hotel Green Park for a drink… But we got bored of GP and drink….
  • Thought of going to Cafe Coffee Day and again there was. Of strong purpose…
  • Then thought if we can drive to Kerala or Karnataka to watch Viswaroopam…. We almost froze this plan… But I had to revoke this plan as my wife was visiting me this weekend…

Finally decided to goto Moonrekers at Mahabalipuram for dinner and spend the night at Cafe Coffee Day the who night…

Wc called Sundar and he was ready to join us… But we got caught in the traffic near Kathipara and it was already 10 PM… Then we thought of going to Buhari for a Briyani… While crossing Velacherry I saw an Andra Hotel by name UGADI and was teasing Karthi that Telegu people have spread everywhere…

Karthi asked if we can try it out there and myself and Sundar seconded it…. As we came out we were delighted wonderful Andra food… We had Plain Rice, Steamed Rice, Chicken Briyani, Fish Curry, Chicken Curry and fried prawns… And yes now we found a place which we will be frequenting often…

From there we drove to Mahabalipuram CCD and it was a fun drive as it has been a while we have been out together… On reaching CCD we sat out and were cracking jokes and in came the manager telling that the joint is closed by 11 PM….

I was disappointed as I couldn’t get my cold coffee :((… Finally my friend Sundar Kumar a go getter went I side the shop and asked if they can give us a Cafe Frappe and he got me got me one…

Finally noting happened as we planned but we couldn’t complain as we enjoyed the day…

The PRINCE & Arthasastram

“The Prince”, is a book written about politics in 1532 by Nicholas Machiavelli. Its from his name came the term “Machiavellian” which means”Cunning, deception, dishonest, cruel”. When Adolf Hitler was living in the streets it was this book that convinced him that even he can become a major politician. This same book convinced Benito Mussolini to dictate Italy. Frederick the Great, Henry VIII and the list goes on. This was considered the best book on politics until 1915.

Because it was in 1915 historians and archaeologists recovered and dissected a book written about 300 years before the birth of Christ, 1200 years before “The Prince”. They recovered Kautilya a.k.a Chanakya’s Arthasastram. The world’s first book in Economics & Politics and even Accounting. Many western economists have agreed that “compared to the cruelty and deception of the Arthasastram, the Prince is really harmless”.

Chanakya was a Brahmin who got cheated by King Nandha, He swore to the heavens that one day he will create a King to destroy the Nandha Dynasty. He raised Chandragupta Maurya, defeated the Nandha Dynasty and established the the Mauryan Empire, the most powerful empire in India which reached till Tamilnadu and extended till Pakistan. The Mauryan Empire was so powerful that when Changragupta wanted to invade the Greek occupied Afghanistan, The greeks got scared and signed a peace treaty with him and also gave away Greek’s Princess in marriage to Chandragupta to make him happy. All this was architected by one man, Chanakya – The KingMaker!

Touch Base Time

For almost six months I stayed disconnected from most of my friends….

  • Didn’t pick their calls…
  • Didn’t respond to their FB messages…
  • Didn’t respond to their emails…

Not sure what gave the energy I almost touch based with a lot of my friends…. A lot has happened over this six months of disconnect….

  • A friend met with an accident and his life changed badly….
  • A friend took a turn from his IT business and has diversified to ice- cream making…
  • A friend made me think bad by apologising for not lifting his calls… Just replied him the curcomestances which pushed me to break communications…

In one day I touch based with 9 friends of mine and it is time to catch up s’more to say I’m back to my routine…..
