Flourishing Temples

I hail from a suburb called Porur, Chennai… Twenty years back I use to visit some small temples near my house… These temples were deserted and mostly misused by anti-social elements…

Today I took my mom to these temples which I’m visiting after 20 years… So, these were the temples I visited and surprised to see the makeover to these temples;

Shiva Veera Anjaneer Temple: This temple was deserted during my schooling days and today it is one of the well organised temples in the locality… It has a website too :)…

ManikaVinayagar Temple: It was a small Ganesh Temple and I used to visit this temple everyday as a kid… Today temple has become big with lot other gods…

Jalagandesswar Temple: Twenty years back there was an open LINGAM which was deserted and dust ridden… All of a sudden a temple has been built and another temple which pulls lots of crowd…

Kamakchi Amman Temple: Twenty years back this area was mostly barren lands and today it houses a temple, which is again well managed…

Finally I don’t want to get into the debate for need of this many temples… Until they are used for people’s good and not misused it is better… Personally I’m happy that these templates have given facelift to the neighbourhood…

New initiatives keeps me engaged

Almost a year Sundays have become boring and lonely… Last week was sitting idle and was whiling away time… Tried hard by trying different things but nothing excited me… Finally called a friend and asked if he can join me for a Coffee… As the conversation progressed we thought of creating a Blog for Techie’s & CxO’s…

Very next day I stepped into execution and started a blog http://scribblejam.wordpress.com, book a domain ScribJAM.Com and started with two of my directors… Started pitching it with my friends to write for the Blog and there was mixed response…

The progress was slow and steady and last whole week I was engaged with this task… It was this new initiative which kept me engaged today… As I’m closing a Sunday without feeling bored after a long time…

Must thank Bala & KSawMe for the support and encouragement they offered…

Donkey on the WELL!!!

20130901-010043.jpg

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer’s neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL: Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred – Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries – Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.

Reply to Mr.Swaminathan

I received following comment from Mr.Swaminathan

Looking at the size of the blog content, you could have put this as a Facebook status message instead of a blog post. (For this small post I had to from FB to your blog and then come back to FB to post my comment….)

First I’d like to explain Swami what BLOG is and how the term originated;

The term “weblog” was coined by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997. The short form, “blog”, was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase “we blog” in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999. Shortly thereafter, Evan Williams at Pyra Labs used “blog” as both a noun and verb (“to blog”, meaning “to edit one’s weblog or to post to one’s weblog”)…

So, Mr.Swami I BLOG to maintain weblog of my daily activities so that I can look back at a later stage… So, my Blog is my diary and it is for my friends to know what I do… If I post things on FB my log gets lost or diluted over the stream activities on FB…

Now you get my point on why I prefer my Blog than FB??

Lunch with friends @ Hotel Green Park

20130830-020731.jpg

Got a call from my friend Sathish Babu and met him for lunch at Hotel Green Park, Chennai…. It was nice 2 hours spent on discussing Rupee Fall, Madurai Law & Order, Tamil Cinema, Indian Politics, Tamil Nadu Politics, Indian Economics, Update & Discussion on Friends activities and more gossips…

It was nice to do tea shop #gossip after a long long time 🙂 – feeling refreshed….

Yet another ambitious guy falling for DOGMA :(

Early morning when I was half asleep got a call from a friend who is several years junior to me… I’ve known this kid for almost 10 years and he has never even entered his teen… He called me to inform me that he has completed his graduation and he is working as a lecturer… First I couldn’t believe my eyes to see the kid taking up a job and that to as a lecturer…

Second I was surprised and saddened to see him taking up a job…I’ve known this guy to be independent, rebellious, notorious, brave, and huge passion for movies… Almost every day he lived for movies and he can replicate personalities and dialogues… His aim was to become a Cinema Director…

Today when I was talking to him I told him I couldn’t believe how come he be a good lecturer as he himself was notorious and uncontrollable and also how he can give up his dream so easily…

His instant reply was to please his parents for two years and after two years he wanted to pursue his dream… Though I was not convinced and pleased… I told him he is making his life complicated and told he has fallen into the trap… I advised him dreamers always need to start early before falling into any commitment or tasting the comfort zone…

He said he is firm that he would quit his job in 2 years and join movies and he wants to please his parents for 2 years… I didn’t want to advice him much and wrapped the conversation by wishing him luck in his career and prayers for not falling into DOGMA…

What is DOGMA??
Dogma is living with the results of other people’s thinking.

From the morning I’m deeply disturbed because I know think guy had deep talent and he would have made it big in Movies… Yet another year and yet another case of a person falling prey to the trap laid by mediocre parents…

Sitting at HOME does more bad than good

From my childhood my parents or every parents in Indian society encourages their kids to stay at home… They thing by confining inside the does not create any problem and can save a lot in expenses…

Once I started my professional career 13 years ago one thing I did was I was out of HOME and spent most of my time out… Thought I couldn’t save a lot but I got a lot of exposure, got a good network of connect, enjoyed life and more importantly mind was engaged and it didn’t create unnecessary situations…

For last one year I had to take care of my dad and had to be confined at home and I understood why most women were trouble makers… This was what I experienced for last one year;

Lot of idle time: An idle man’s mind is devils workshop and this is true… Since mind is free it created lot of assumptions and imaginary situations which most of the time strained relationship with others… Mind stopped forgiving others… Mind stops accepting mistakes…

Creates Fear & Pessimism: I use to wonder why my mother was pessimistic and was always scared of everything… But when I was all alone I could feel falling for those symptoms…

Reduces Exposure: However educated you are once you stop moving out and spend some time travelling or roaming… You are for sure bound to lag behind…

EGO Develops: there are more changes of you becoming an egoist….

Will Develop Self Pity: We always feel lonely and think we don’t have anyone and develop the trait of pitying ourself…

Breaks Self Confidence: All the above pointed will lead to loosing ones Self-Confidence…

Am not sure how many of you had time to sit at home for a long time and feel if they had experienced such things… But I underwent and compared with the behaviour of women at home and could correlate…

From Self-Hosted to Cloud

Wordpress LogoI’ve been a blogged for almost a decade now and all the while I’ve never believed on cloud and always went with the Indian mindset of owning things… All this changed until Swami implemented cloud in our office…

  • It started with our Project Management too JIRA…
  • Then we moved our versioning system to GIT…
  • Then moved our sales management system to Zendesk…
  • Then with the help of BAMBOO we implemented Continuous Integration..

After seeing the benefits of cloud I decided to move away from my self-hosted WordPress BLOG to Cloud hosted WordPress BLOG… For the record this happens to be my first blog after moving to cloud and from now I need not worry about;

  • Server Downtime…
  • Script Upgrade
  • Data Backups

Also must thank Swami for his continuous support in encouraging me to blog, being a master executer and for porting the site successfully to Cloud…

Not it is time to play around the features available and to fine tune my blog to make it more readable and presentable…

Inspiring Story of Sylvestar Stallone

This is one of the SADDEST stories ever told in Hollywood. His name is Sylvestar Stallone. One of the BIGGEST and Most famous American Movie superstars. Back in the day,Stallone was a
struggling actor in every definition. At some point,he got so broke that he stole his wife’s jewellery and sold it. Things got so bad that he even ended up homeless. Yes,he slept at the New York bus station for 3 days. Unable to pay rent or afford food. His lowest point came when he tried to sell his dog at the liquor store to any stranger. He didn’t have money to feed the dog anymore. He sold it at $25 only. He says he walked away crying.

Two weeks later,he saw a boxing match between Mohammed Ali and Chuck Wepner and that match gave him the inspiration to write the script for the famous movie,ROCKY. He wrote the
script for 20 hours! He tried to sell it and got an offer for $125,000 for the script. But he had just ONE REQUEST. He wanted to STAR in the movie. He wanted to be the MAIN ACTOR. Rocky himself. But the studio said NO. They wanted a REAL STAR.

They said he “Looked funny and talked funny”. He left with his script. Afew weeks later, the studio offered him $250,000 for the script. He refused. They even offered $350,000. He still refused. They wanted his movie. But NOT him. He said NO. He had to be IN THAT MOVIE.

After a while, the studio agreed, gave him $35,000 for the script and let him star in it! The rest is history! The movie won Best Picture,Best Directing and Best Film Editing at the prestigious
Oscar Awards. He was even nominated for BEST ACTOR! The Movie ROCKY was even inducted into the American National Film Registry as one of the greatest movies ever!

And do You know the first thing he bought with the $35,000? THE DOG HE SOLD. Yes,Stallone LOVED HIS DOG SO MUCH that he stood at the liquor store for 3 days waiting for the man he sold
his dog to. And on the 3rd day,he saw the man coming with the dog. Stallone explained why he sold the dog and begged for the dog back. The man refused. Stallone offered him $100. The
man refused. He offered him $500. And the guy refused. Yes,he refused even $1000. And,Believe it or Not,Stallone had to pay $15,000 for the same, same dog he sold at $25 only! And he
finally got his dog back!

And today, the same Stallone who slept in the streets and sold his dog JUST BECAUSE he couldnt even feed it anymore,is one of the GREATEST Movie Stars who ever walked the Earth!

Being broke is BAD. Really BAD. Have You ever had a dream? A wonderful dream? But You are too broke to implement it? Too tiny to do it? Too small to accomplish it? Damn! I’ve been there too many times!

Life is tough. Opportunities will pass you by,just because you are a NOBODY. People will want your products but NOT YOU. Its a tough world. If you aint already famous,or rich or “connected”,You will find it rough. Doors will be shut on You. People will steal your glory and crash your hopes. You will push and push. And yet NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

And then your hopes will be crashed. You will be broke. Damn broke. You will do odd jobs for survival. You will be unable to feed yourself. And Yes,you may end up sleeping in the streets.
It happens. Yes,it does.

BUT NEVER LET THEM CRUSH THAT DREAM. Whatever happens to
You,Keep Dreaming. Even when they crush your hopes,Keep Dreaming. Even when they turn you away,Keep Dreaming. Even when they shut you down,Keep Dreaming.

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF EXCEPT YOURSELF! People will judge You by HOW you look. And by WHAT You have. But please,Fight on! Fight for Your place in history. Fight for your glory. NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

Even if it means selling all your clothes and sleeping with the dogs,ITS OKAY! But AS LONG AS YOU ARE STILL ALIVE,Your STORY IS NOT OVER. TRUST ME.

Keep Up the Fight. Keep your dreams and hope alive. Go gerrit.

Like and share if inspired. Lovely day
