An happening day

It was a long sleep compensating previous day sleep deprivation… Had to reach trichy before 5 PM & I was sleeping till 12 noon in Madurai… When I came out it was still cloudy & chill & was in no mood to take bath… I asked Jegan to drop me in Mathuthavani & he came home by 12.30 & en route went to office to see how the new generator was erected…

Then I boarded a bus to Trichy by 1.30 PM & reached the destination by 4 PM… In between I had a short 20 min meeting with a friend & I went home, took bath & bang we reached Thiruvanikovil by 5.45 PM… That is what I like in smaller cities as the traveling distance & traffic problems are minimal…

Then we had nice darshan in the temple & we had a satisfying Golden Chariot Ride… By 8 PM we were out of temple & from there my parents and sister went to my sisters house to pack the bags, my granny went to my uncles house to pack her bags, my other uncle aunty cousin & me travelled in a bus to Junction… We all re-assembled at Sri Krishna Garden Restaurant by 9 PM and we all had a wonderful family Dinner…

It was fun pulling down each other & wide variety of dishes… Finally got startled by seeing the bill as it was only 1900 bucks for a 20 member dinner…

Then we boarded our bus back to Chennai at 11 PM & again was dawn tired that I slept immediately only to wake up in Chennai…

Over all was happy with the day as;

  • I had wonderful sleep…
  • Was alone after a long while at home…
  • Long waiting Generator Erection was successfully completed…
  • Climate was cool & had rains in between while traveling back to Trichy… So it was not a difficult travel…
  • Had nice darshan in the temple…
  • Had nice dinner with my relatives after a long time….

Over all am happy & will long to have such a day again :)…

Day of travel

We all (Parents & Granny) packed to Trichy for riding the golden Chariot at Thiruvanaikovil… Since my father had to attend an engagement function in Pondicherry he said he will join us in a toll… I was not apprehensive because my parents were creating a lot of fuzz in explaining which toll my father will be waiting; my irritation peaked when they were creating a discussion for a simple thing… My second point was that the toll was on half way distance to Trichy & it would only make things difficult… Like I thought;

  • Driver & Helper created a lot of fuss for doing this favor… They said they can’t wake us up…
  • Me & my mom has to be awake until the bus reached Vikravandu (GMR) toll (We reached the toll by 2.30 AM)…
  • My father reached the toll plaza by 9 PM & he waited there for five & half hours…

Still I’m not sure what was running in my parents mind to do such crazy things… Then had a short nap for 2 hours… Then went to my uncles house in Thillai Nagar refreshed, took bath & was having some funny conversation with my uncle, aunt & cousin…

My cousin had some travel plans & I decided I can’t stay in that place for long… I said I had some work in Madurai & immediately left to madurai… I reached Madurai by noon & went to Milan’em mall and waited for my friend…

From there we went to Mani Impala theatre for the movie KO… When we came out of theatre if was raining heavily outside & there was no signs of rain getting over… My friend (Sathish) insisted that we can drive along with rain… I was happy for that experience but was not happy knowing his standards of driving…

From went to Meenakshi Bazaar got some CD’s & got our dinner & went to home… On reaching home I crashed to bed without watching even a single movie as I was too tired…

Over all it was a mixed bag day… But I kept my cool because of the rain ;)…

Muscle Catch Spoils Madurai Plans

Came to Madurai with loads of agenda fitted within 2 days… Unfortunately my Muscle Catch aggravated & I was unable to get down from the bus & walk… With great difficulty I reached home… I’ve never been thru such a severe pain… I didn’t think of any other thing & immediately started sleeping even though I had a good sleep in the bus…

I didn’t bother to pick any of the calls & got up only by 4… Then went to a near by hotel to have some grub… Then went to office by 6 PM only to find that there was a power shutdown…

After some small power meetings I thought that I can at least start my Birthday Party from my Madurai mates… Had a nice fun filled dinner at Taj Pasumalai & Netherlands – England match was a bonus…

After that it was time for a movie with Satheesh… Went to the movie Aadu-Puli an average movie… Did all this with severe back pain…

Then went back home & slept till 5 PM today… When I woke up I badly wanted to treat my back before proceeding to any other work… Also had to postpone my return to Chennai to honour Laxman’s invitation for bachelors party…

Then went to office at 6 & had meetings with Major, Sathick, Bala & Jegan all within one & half hours…

Then went for a Psysio treatment from my friend Madhan & my thank him a zillion… He immediately figured the problem & released the trigger points… Then he gave from stretches & now am feeling much better…

Then came the shocker… I didn’t eat from the morning & thought I can freak the Buffet… Unfortunately there was a party in Fortune Pandian hotel & all tables were full…

Looking at spreads made mouth watery :(… Then we had to cancel the plan… Thanks to Laxman for postponing my trip for nothing & making me starve…

Then went for dinner in a Hotel near by called Sangam only to get a very very bad service…

Now I’m back at home & I’ve a train to catch by 6.30 AM tomorrow… If I sleep I can’t wake-up that early…

Time to fiddle with my blackberry & must take nice nap in the train…

Laughed out HIGH

Madurai means Lots of personal time, Lots of Friends & more importantly it is CHEAP… As per my agenda for Madurai trip I finished all my office work by afternoon & then joined my friends for Lunch & an hour of casual talk in my friends fruit shop… To our surprise two gorgeous girls approached us asking for the owner… They were from RedBull to market the product and they were from Bangalore… One can imagine how Madurai folks would have reacted;

  • Eyeballs of everyone in the vicinity were at the shop(at the girls)…
  • Suddenly a bunch of local boys visited the shop to have a sip of Fresh Juice (infact a close look at the babes)…

We enjoyed the situation and we were mocking at our owner friend and when they left they came back to us and gave us a tin of RedBull.

From there we went to Swimming Pool at Pandian Hotel… It was again rejuvenating experience for eyes as there was a Bikini clad Blonde Girl swimming along with us… We were shouting, pulling down each other, played water volley ball,  started with swimming basics, then did some exercise…

Then like kids we played kicking each other, showed some gymnastics in bike, fought to get bike keys to drive it… Over all I didn’t know how time went… Got relieved from all Stress and now I feel mentally light…

I thank my friends Laxman, Satheesh & Manoj for making my day so pleasant…

Cogzidel Day @ Madurai

Yesterday we celebrated our second year anniversary in Madurai. Though we have offices in Chennai we (myself & Bala) decided to goto Madurai because we Started our Journey at Madurai two years back.

  • We started our journey by offering Pooja for Goddess Madurai Meenakshi Amman.
  • For first anniversary we visited the temple for Thanks Giving to the goddess.
  • We did the same this year too. This time I must thank my friend Satheesh Seelan for arranging for such a wonderful darshan.

Then from temple we went to office directly and we were in for a pleasant surprise. Thanks to our HR & Admin Mr.Jegan & other Cogzians for all the arrangements.

  • Then there was a small speech telling the Vision for Next one year and there was a small Q & A seassion.
  • Then Thanks Giving to Present & ex-cogzians.
  • Then Cake Cutting.

Now we have stepped into our 3rd year and it is time to work hard and accomplish as mush as possible. Rangoli & Decoration done by our girls;

A scene at Koyembedu Omni Bus Stand

It was a perfect experience I thrive to have and I really enjoyed the time. Yesterday I had to book tickets to Madurai in an infamous Omni (Private) bus because all reputed travels like KPN, Parveen, ABT etc were all running full houses because of long weekend holidays. I’ve had lot os bad experience with such operators and I was expecting some problem. So this is how it all started;

  • Booked a ticket in a Travels names Sri Saravana Travels through RedBus.in by 8 PM.
  • Bus was scheduled to start by 11 o clock.
  • Cost of the ticket was Rs.780.
  • Had to search for the small office for 30 min and many other bus operators were not aware of this Travels.
  • Upon finding the office by 10.45 PM we were all made to sit on the small dungeon office till 12 o clock.
  • Then people started questioning and we were pacified by telling bus will reach in 15 min and we were made to sit in a near by Travels office in A/C.
  • Then after another 45 min we were all made to stand out telling bus has come.
  • But after standing on the platform for 15 min people started getting irritated (including me).
  • I was the first to go with a rude voice.
  • The owner (We didn’t know then that he was the owner) of the Travels said he is doing us a favor and if we shout he cant help us out. It was almost a blackmail and I was not happy with the way we were treated.
  • When I asked for the name of the owner he said owner is abroad and when I asked for his name he said it is Noor Mohammed. That took my temper to the top because it looked he was teasing us. How can a Sri Saravana Travels owner can be named with a muslim name??
  • Then I called him to the Police station and immediately he started abusing me with all bad words.
  • Then I pulled him to Police station and there was almost a Physical fight between me and the Travels guy.
  • Immediately all the co-passengers came to my rescue and we started pulling him to Police Station.
  • Then all the Travels guys mostly drunk assembled and started pushing other passengers.
  • Immediately I call 100 and asked for the help of COPS.
  • After a heated debate and after 10 min cops reached the spot & they picked all the travels folks.
  • Out of 20 passengers only 4 accompanied me. But I was not bothered and I was ready to fight it alone.
  • As we thought we were made to slog and these travels people were given a good treatment. Which was obvious.
  • When I was writing a complaint a cop asked me not to do it and when I was adamant to give a compliant he started threatening that I’ve to come to station when ever they call until the case ends. By then we thought there is no use in going to cops and came to know their intentions.
  • In spite of cops interfering we got a bus which was not worth for Rs.780/- by 3 AM in the morning.
  • Another thing was the operator was threatening me in front of the cops that he has my address and he will be back with revenge. Though I gave a dawn I was startled because cops were listening to his threats.

Finally after boarding the bus everyone came and thanked me for making this happen. Finally I was contented because;

  • of me others were able to get a bus and travel to Madurai.
  • For sure cops would have taken advantage of the situation and would have taken some bribe.
  • I thought them a lesson that they can’t take everyone for granted.

Again there is not going to be any change. But I did my bit to change things by taking some initiative and by writing this blog which will be of help to others.

Note: Finally we came to know Sri Saravana Travels is just a ticket booking agent and he doesn’t own a bus. They are ticket agents with a Name to cheat people.

My Perception of 3 Cities

Madas day is happening and I’m proud to be the son of a city which has a great History. But I’ve been thinking how did I feel when i went to 3 other cities and what was my first take about the city. Here goes my perception;

Bangalore: First i visited the city when i was 8 years old and that too for a day. I hardly remember much about that experience. But later I went to this city when i was 17 years old after completing my schooling. My father took me there for vacation. Right from the beginning i got excited;

  • I saw a very clean & planned city.
  • Saw pretty girls who were modernly dressed again unlike Chennai (then, now Chennai is much better than Bangalore :)).
  • Saw couples smooching on public places (Sadly this is controlled these days).
  • Lots of pubs unlike Chennai.
  • A enviable night life.
  • A pleasant climate.
  • Lot of hotels.

All the above were new for me then because Chennai was considered very conservative them. I even considered getting settled in Bangalore. But today Chennai has caught up with all the points i specified & Bangalore has fallen down. Also Bangalore has become a victim of mass urbanization and it has lost its charm. Anyways I consider Bangalore to be my second home town as I’ve a house there and Chennai – Bangalore being very proximate I don’t get the feel that it is a different city.

Madurai: There is nothing much to talk about this City. The day I entered the city it was dirty, unruly & zero entertainment. I felt very lonely for the first three months as I didn’t have any other place other than Cafe Coffee Day. I’ve never intended to stay there as that was not the place for me. But I owe a lot to this City as it helped me to come back from all the pains cause during 2008. Year 2010 has been more happening for this city and there are lots of joints and brands falling in this city & today it gives tough fight with Cities like Chennai or Bangalore. These days i enjoy visiting this city.

Coimbatore: My first visit to this city was 2 years back and I was really carried away. Like Bangalore i got a liking towards this city on first sight. Things excited me;

  • Posh houses & cosmopolitan lifestyle.
  • Pretty Girls but culture abiding.
  • Less traffic.
  • Good Climate.
  • Nice Business environment.

I want to get settled here if this place doesn’t become another Bangalore.

Traveling in Mercedes Benz Multi Axle Bus

Travelling on Mercedes Benz would be a bream for any normal person & I’m no exception to it. Sadly I’ve never travelled in a Benz vehicle.

Yesterday when I went to Parveen Travels website to book my tickets back to Chennai I saw an update telling new mercedes benz multi axle bus from Trivandrum to Chennai. Then after searching for ticket I came to know that bus goes through Madurai. I got thrilled & decided to travel on the bus at any cost.

When I checked the cost it was Rs.700/- only. I paid Rs.685/- for a Volvo multi axle to come to Madurai. But that extra money isn’t an issue as;

  • They are making our dream of travelling on Benz a reality.
  • They gave a paper carry bag with 500 ml water bottle, a Maa mango juice, a biscuit packet & wet tissues. They give us the feel of flying on an aeroplane.

I must thank Parveen Travels to bring elite things to common man. Also they keep innovating new things to attract their customers.

For sure Parveen Travels is going to be no.1 private player when it comes to travel. I’ve changed my loyalty from KPN to Parveen Travels.

Milaga Review

Day before yesterday had dinner with my friends and they said the movie MILAGA was good. After dinner I straight went to Meenakshi Bazaar to buy the CD and then came back to office and worked till 12.30 AM…

After reaching home found Kannan watching Ravanan for second time… Immediately stopped him and I started watching the movie… To my surprise;

  • The movie was on the lines of Madurai Sambavam but this movie is a comedy one. I felt bad that I missed watching the movie in Madurai theatre as it is a movie based on the city.
  • Screenplay is too fast and not even a single scene were boring.
  • There is no tragedy & that makes the movie worth a watch.
  • Characters & team are from same as Mayandi Kudumbathar & Koripalayam.
  • Most comedy scenes were hilarious & even otherwise it was not boring.
  • Hero Natraj has done a good job. He is natural when it comes to acting, comedy & stunt.
  • Over all it was worth watch movie. Not sure why movie went unnoticed.

Weekend Plans were Screwed

After a long time I’m having a bored weekend at Madurai. After relocating back to Chennai a year back I use to complete my trips during weekdays & return to Chennai to enjoy weekends.

This time I planned to mix my trip with a weekend because planned for a trip to Kuttralam or Kumily.

But all plans were screwed by a friend who spent major part of his previous week at Kodaikanal. Also he never hinted that he is going to screw the plan.

Last 3 days we met for dinner and dispersed. Some spice were missing in our meetings. Even today we went for lunch & had a afternoon nap & they went back home.

Finally I had Major for rescue. Went to Coffee Float, a walk at race course road & a walk in our area. It was a nice 4 hour where we were sharing out personal life experience, some official & some nostalgic discussions.

Some how I passed the weekend & its time to concentrate & finish my visits purpose in next two days.
