Feeling drowsy – But got to finish a lot of work today

Being Sunday things move slowly. But I have a golden day to finish all my personal tasks today but not in a mood to list them. So, thought writing a blog will make me list the stuff I must do for the day.

  • Committed to Balaji that I’ll take him to ICICI Home Loan Mela & accompany him for his hunt for a new house.
  • My old Compaq is in serious danger as it is attacked by Torjan’s, Spywares & Malwares. Must buy a USB and take backups of important files and must format the system.
  • Must make temporary arrangement to fix worms in Old Compaq system until I come back from Salem & Madurai.
  • Got an invitation from my sister to go to Muthukadu for boating. If it is in the evening I might accept the invitation and will go with them.

Being a Sunday I don’t want to push myself so hard. Let me finish these simple things and if time permits and if I’ve a company will go to a movie.

How to Finish a Task with Bureaucrats?

Last week it was the end of month long agony with bureaucrats. There is a common phenomenon with bureaucrats.

  1. They are lazy.
  2. They never accountability.
  3. They are irresponsible.
  4. They are corrupt and crocked.
  5. They won’t offer information on one go. Eg: Every time we make a visit they send us back telling one correction or other.

Over all for a work which should not have taken more than 3 days took 25 days to finish it. But the experience gained in phenomenal. I had two types on experience in Coimbatore & Bangalore.

  • One place i was not allowed to deal from the top and i was totally not accessible with the concerned person in the top.
  • Second place i was asked to deal with the Top directly.

In my experience both as challenging. In one case we can proceed with the work without having any one to deal with. In second case dealing from the Top expensive. So this is how i dealt with Case 1.

  • I met the Professional Tax Officer on second day and he took the documents and he didn’t give me his phone number.
  • Then again he was not approachable in office.
  • Then i caught hold of the Peon who gave me all information and called the officer everything i visited their office or gave me updates on the progress when i called him from Chennai.

Over all job got over after 15 days because of Bureaucratic delays and after constant followups. Totally i spent Rs.80/- for the peon for his help. I cant consider this as Bribe because he helped me for a job which was not his responsibility and for picking calls and linking with the concerned officer. Here Bottom-up approach helped.

Then in Case 2.

  • Officer was always available in Office.
  • Was directly dealing with the Department Head.
  • Bribe insisted was Huge.
  • We denied to offer bribe and we paid the entire penalty.
  • I was made to run everyday asking for more details / information / document.

Finally PTO said he can’t give me the certificate without giving him some Professional Fee (This is the term he uses for Bribe) and finally i had to bow down and make him some Professional Fee. I was deeply upset because PTO made me run to his office at least 11 times and i produced all nonsense information he requested and finally ending up paying him a bribe.

I behaved like a common man standing helpless and bow down to business pressure. Let me see when all this will change?

How to recruit your staff?

A corporation advertised all kinds of positions to fill for their new office in a big city, the candidates were selected based on their resume and tested for their aptitude for the positions.

The corporation put around one hundred baseball balls in some particular order in a closed room with the room window open Then they send a group of two to three candidates of particular discipline into the room and locked it from outside They left them alone and came back after six hours, to analyzed the situation:

  1. If they were counting and recounting the number of balls – They were hired for the ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT
  2. If they had messed up the whole place with the balls – They were hired for the ENGINEERING
  3. If they were arranging the balls in some other order – They were hired for the PLANNING
  4. If they were throwing the balls at each other – They were hired for the OPERATIONS
  5. If they were sleeping – They were hired for the SECURITY
  6. If they had squashed the balls into pieces – They were hired for the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
  7. If they were staring out of the window – They were hired for the EXPORT
  8. If they were sitting idle – They were hired for the HUMAN RESOURCE DEPT
  9. If they had thrown the balls out of the window – They were hired for the MATERIALS DEPT
  10. If they were clinging onto the balls – They were hired for the TREASURY
  11. If they said they had tried different combinations, yet not a ball had moved – They were hired for the SALES
  12. If they had already left for the day – They were hired for the MARKETING and finally
  13. If they were talking to each other and not a ball had moved – They were hired for the TOP MANAGEMENT

Bangalore & Coimbatore Professional Tax Done

I’ve been slogging for last 3 weeks to finish the registration and remittance of Professional Tax for a big client of CCS. Today I got the receipt for PT remittance and Professional Tax Number for Coimbatore which my uncle collected and couriered to me.

Also much awaited Bangalore is also done. Today I got the Professional Tax Number but the officer denied to handover the certificate to me as he wanted to meet the bank’s branch manager.

So my stay here goes prolonged for one more day. Now only Salem is pending and I don’t know how long it is going to take.

Unnaiya Kalyanam Pannikiren

Today I was watching my long time favorite movie Unnai Yae Kalyanam Pannikuren (I’ll Marry You) starring Nagarjun & Tabu and directed by Krishna Vamsi. It is a dubbed version of Telegu movie Ninne Pelladutha.

This movie got released hen I finished my schooling and I watched it because I’m a great fan of Tabu then. Also the movie was full of fun as movie itself was comical and the dubbing made it even funnier.

The plot was not very new for Tollyhood or for Kollyhood but the screen made the movie more interesting and it is one of the handfuls of dubbed movie that was a hit in Tamil.

It is a simple Romeo & Juliet tale which ends with a happy note.

Today watching that movie took me back to school days and really I’m unable to believe it is been 12 years since this movie got released. It is hard to believe that Tabu has got old.

Now I think I must collect DVD’s of all my favorite movies and I must but this one immediately so that I wont forget it.

What should I do to marry a rich guy

A young and pretty lady posted this on a popular forum:

Title: What should I do to marry a rich guy?

I’m going to be honest of what I’m going to say here. I’m 25 this year. I’m very pretty, have style and good taste. I wish to marry a guy with $500k annual salary or above. You might say that I’m greedy, but an annual salary of $1M is considered only as middle class in New York . My requirement is not high. Is there anyone in this forum who has an income of $500k annual salary? Are you all married? I wanted to ask: what should I do to marry rich persons like you? Among those I’ve dated, the richest is $250k annual income, and it seems that this is my upper limit. If someone is going to move into high cost residential area on the west of New York City Garden ( ? ) , $250k annual income is not enough.

I’m here humbly to ask a few questions:

1) Where do most rich bachelors hang out? (Please list down the names and

addresses of bars, restaurant, gym)

2) Which age group should I target?

3) Why most wives of the riches is only average-looking? I’ve met a few girls who doesn’t have looks and are not interesting, but they are able to marry rich guys

4) How do you decide who can be your wife, and who can only be your girlfriend? (my target now is to get married)

——————– Now the awesome reply given by Mr.J.P.Morgan, CEO: ———————–

Dear Ms. Pretty,

I have read your post with great interest. Guess there are lots of girls out there who have similar questions like yours. Please allow me to analyze your situation as a professional investor. My annual income is more than $500k, which meets your requirement, so I hope everyone believes that I’m not wasting time here. From the standpoint of a business person, it is a bad decision to marry you.. The answer is very simple, so let me explain.

Put the details aside, what you’re trying to do is an exchange of ‘beauty’ and ‘money’: Person A provides beauty, and Person B pays for it, fair and square. However, there’s a deadly problem here, your beauty will fade, but my money will not be gone without any good reason. The fact is, my income might increase from year to year, but you can’t be prettier year after year. Hence from the viewpoint of economics, I am an appreciation asset, and you are a depreciation asset. It’s not just normal depreciation, but exponential depreciation. If that is your only asset, your value will be much worried 10 years later.

By the terms we use in Wall Street, every trading has a position, dating with you is also a ‘trading position’. If the trade value dropped we will sell it and it is not a good idea to keep it for long term – same goes with the marriage that you wanted. It might be cruel to say this, but in order to make a wiser decision any assets with great depreciation value will be sold or ‘leased’. Anyone with over $500k annual income is not a fool; we would only date you, but will not marry you. I would advice that you forget looking for any clues to marry a rich guy. And by the way, you could make yourself to become a rich person with $500k annual income. This has better chance than finding a rich fool.

Hope this reply helps. If you are interested in ‘leasing’ services, do contact me…

Private Bus Drama

Normally I never travel in small time private bus operators. All my previous experience has been bad. So these are the things that happened in the past;

  • In 2001 I boarded a bus called Sangeetha Travels by 10.30 to Chennai. Since I was tired I slept and woke up by 1 o clock only to fine the bus was still in the same spot I boarded. They were still filling the empty seats. Then reached by 10 AM.
  • Second is also with the same operator & same year who dropped us in chitoor claiming they don’t have a permit to enter Tamil Nadu and left us in a normal bus. Again reached Chennai by 10 AM
  • Then 6 months I boarded a bus to Madurai. This time operator name National Travels. I was told bus starts by 10 o clock and again when we crossed Chennai it was 2 o clocks. Until then they were filling the seats. Then they reached Trichy where most of them got down and again they halted for an hour to fill the empty seats. Then reached by 1 PM.

After these entire nightmares I stopped travelling using smalltime players. Yesterday I badly wanted to travel to Bangalore as today is the last day to pay Professional Tax. I must have booked tickets as I know I must travel to Bangalore. But that is me I love vagabond travel.

Again yesterday I was called by Sangitha Travels. The cost of the ticket was Rs.850/- which was double than what I normally pay. Then I was told I need to board 11.30 PM bus. Then couple of people was asked to board 11 o clock bus and when I asked it that was my bus they said mine was 11.30 bus. A Gurka employee of the travels said 11 o clock bus was last and by now I smelled again I’m into some trouble.

Not this is how the drama started;

  • All of a sudden asked for my boarding pass.
  • He returned asked me to take my bag, run and follow him.
  • He returned shouting at his other agents to call and stop the bus.
  • Then he gave the boarding pass to Gurka and asked him to stop the bus and make me board the bus.
  • He took me to some other agent.
  • He shouted at me asking what time to come.
  • It irked me I started giving back telling I was waiting inside his office for more than an hour. In fact this guy saw me sitting inside his office for long, but he pretended as if he doesn’t know me.
  • Then he asked for another 100 bucks claiming he needed that to help me board another bus.
  • By now I started shouting at him in local Chennai lingo and I said I can create a scene.
  • Then he changed the topic telling I owe them Rs.100 bucks. Then I said if he is going to mess around with me he is into trouble. My ease speaking Chennai lingo helped.
  • Then he said he is doing me a favor. He said without my knowledge he has sent someone in my bus and he took his boarding pass to me.
  • He gave me the front seat where ask I was given the last seat in my ticket.
  • I was adamant not to pay these people even a penny.
  • Then I got into my seat and got settled.
  • Then when I peeped out there were old people, young couples with kids who were put into trouble.

I was in no mood in give a helping hand to them and I was watching all the quarrels. Finally they started the bus by 12:15PM and reached Bangalore by 5:15 PM.

Am I still a ShahRukh Fan?

I’ve known ShahRukh Khan for 21 years now. Those days we had not other option to watch Doordarshan and every day we use to watch Hindi serials between 8 PM to 9.30 PM. As my mother knows Hindi she uses to translate it to me. One such serial we use to watch every day was Fauji starring ShahRukh Khan during 1988. I was too young (I was in Class four) then and I didn’t know she is going to be a big Super Star then.

Then again I use to watch the serial Circus starring ShahRukh Khan after 2 years which was aired every Sunday by 10 PM. I use to sleep only after watching this serial. Even then I was not a fan of Shan Rukh Khan as he was a serial actor.

Then three years later I watched the movie Baazigar only because of ShahRukh. I wanted to watch the movie of a person whom I’ve seen in television. I was really carried away by his acting. Then immediately I watched his next film Darr and it was this movie which made me a fan of him. I was his die-hard fan even before he has created a mark for himself.

Then I started watching all his movies and the next one was Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and I really loved this movie as he portrayed a role of a below average student who fails in his exams and get the irk of his parents. It correlated with my life those days. These movies started cementing my admiration towards this great actor.

Then I watched the Movie Anjaam where he portrayed the role of a Villain and I became his brand ambassador. Then I went back and watched all the movies which released before Baazigar and I didn’t miss any of his movies till date even it was a crap movie like English Babu Desi Mein.

Those days I get irked when Salman or Amir gives a hit and ShahRukh gives a flop. When Salman came with Hum Aapke Hein Kaun I was eagerly awaiting for ShahRukh to give one better than HAHK and he gave Dilwale Duhania Le Jayenge and this movie got more fans for him and many of my classmates accepted him as their Super Star and the brand ambassador was none other than me.

Today he has come a long day and I’ve been his fan for long. I’ve also been his brand ambassador for long. Today when I do a soul searching I don’t know if this man still impresses me? Is he over doing these days? Has he become too big to satisfy every section of his fan base? Has he moved away from his image which made me admire him?

Or did I become sensible by coming out of dark from hero worshipping? Is Amir  & Salman are inspiriring me than ShahRuck? Is his mass appeal has taken me away form him? Or arrival of next generation has diluted my admiration towards him?

What ever the case may be I’m still a good admirer of ShahRukh Khan. Not sure if I still act like his brand ambassador or a great Fan. I didn’t watch his movie Billu Barber which is the first movie which I missed watching. I’ve moved a long way from my Icon and I’ve started pushing for Shahid Kapoor and Sallu now-a-days as  they are giving movies for my taste.

So, to my question the answer is I’m no longer a great fan of ShahRukh Khan.

Mein Aur Mrs.Khanna

Mein aur Mrs.Khanna
Mein aur Mrs.Khanna
Yesterday I went to watch the movie Mein Aur Mrs.Khanna starring Salman Khan, Sohail Khan & Kareena Kapoor. Before getting into the review let me reveal that I’m a great fan of Sallu. There is no big role for him and I think he must have accepted the movie to boost the career of his brother Sohail Khan who is also the producer of the movie.

Here is the synopsis of the movie.

Salman (Sameer Khanna) & Kareena (Raina Khanna) are couples whose marriage is a Love marriage. The marriage happens against the wish of Salman’s parents and they move to Melbourne, Australia. Salman is of thinking that a successful marriage needs good money and he spends most of his time to build his career and spends less time for his wife than when she was his lover.

On contrary Kareena for his love than money but she accepts him as she loves him a lot. On fine day Mr.Khanna looses his job and he was invited by his friend to join him in Singapore. Mr. Khanna would ask Mrs.Khanna to go to New Delhi until he gets settles. But Mrs.Khanna gets upset with Mr.Khanna and she stays back. This irks Mr.Khanna.

Then in the airport she Meets Sohail Khan (Akash) who works in a coffee shop and falls for Mrs. Khanna at first sight only to know that she is married to Mr.Sameer Khanna and from then he keeps calling her Mrs.Khanna. From then on he starts helping her to get settled in Australia and helps her emotionally and morally.

At one point he had to get married with Mrs.Khanna as she doesn’t have a working visa. By this time Mr.Khanna returns and he finds about this marriage and how Akash has really fallen in love with Mrs.Khanna.

When Mr.Khanna tells this to Mrs.Khanna she gets upset with Mr.Khanna and she wants to make things straight before going back with Mr.Khanna. She meets Akash when she was about to depart that if he (Akash) lover her? For which Akash says Mr. & Mrs. Khanna are best pair. Mrs.Khanna thanks him and says he is her best friends and boards flight with Mr.Khanna.

After boarding the flight she gets a Bouquet of flowers from air hostess telling that was a gift from Mr.Khanna. Mrs.Khanna thanks Mr.Khanna for the gesture. Then Mr. Khanna asks her to read the note.

It will have a small message of love with signature Akash Khanna. Only then she (Mrs.Khanna) realizes why Akash has called her Mrs.Khanna every time and him telling Mr.  & Mrs.Khanna is good couples.

I don’t know how many people would like the movie. But I personally liked the movie for;

  • Sohail Khan’s performance.
  • The way things are narrated and revealed in climax.
  • Last but not least the climax with Deepika Padukone.

Full marks to Director & Sohail. Hope Sohail Khan career takes up soon. He is far better actor than Saif Ali Khan and deserves more. Best Luck Sohail.
