Severe power problem

Acceptance is the greatest Sin & we indians are known for accepting things beyond limits. Last one month we have been suffering form severe power problem both at home & at office. Being an entrepreneur this is getting on to my nerves.

Yesterday night has reached a level where in would have used all ungrammatical words if Tamil Nadu’s power minister mister Arcot Veeraswamy would have come to face me. Yesterday had severe low voltage and inverter was also not working. Inverter starts sending backup power only when there is a full power cut & not for low voltage.

We were all reeling under the sweat & uneasiness from lack of air generation. I don’t know if all our ministers house is getting affected by the problem faced by a normal citizen.

Other irony is I see lots of power being stolen from local transformer to light the decorative lights on the roads to mark the birthday of our chief minister M.Karunanidhi. I just want to know who is paying for their deeds?? It is we the common man.

As a ordinary citizen of this country I stand helpless waiting for next election to teach a lesson. I don’t know if we vote for a new government can bring a solution. But at-least we have the contention of giving back to someone. I’m great admirer of this DMK government as they have brought Investments into the state, developed infrastructure. But they deserve to loose because of ignoring the power sector. They can bring the change because they are a part of the government in the centre & at power in the state.

What ever may be I stand helpless for not getting a solution today. I had disturbed sleep the whole night and suffering from headache. This is going to take a toll on my productivity & also on my health. As any normal citizen I’m writing this blog and moving away with life. As i cant do anything other that this for now.

Motivating story shared by Azim Premji

Wanted to share this story which Azim Premji shared with IIM-A students.

One day a farmer’s donkey fell into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally he decided the animal was old and the well needed to be covered up anyway – it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to scoop dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realising what was happening, cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he became quiet.

A few shovels later, the farmer finally looked down the well and was astonished at what he saw. With every shovel of dirt that fell on his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He shook it off and took a step up.

As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he shook it off and took a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and totted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick is too not to get bogged down by it. We can get out of the deepest wells by not stopping. And by never giving up. Shake it off and take a step up.

Emergency Experience

It was saturday night & i’ve planned to party after a while. My friends & I were already in a hotel and the time we were about to enter the discotheque I got a call from my friend Sriram & Bala that they were in trouble. When i called them back i was requested to come to MIOT hospital without wasting time on phone.

Instantly we cancelled all our program and I reached MIOT hospital in 20 min. I was shocked to see some 5 of my friends bleeding and were in a critical state. Normally I’m scared to see people who have met with accidents. This time i didn’t know where i got the confidence from. I was able to handle the situation. To my surprise;

  • I saw all my friends & was able to console them.
  • I did all the documentation formalities in the Hospital.
  • Handled the COPS.

I must say doctor attending emergency patients single handedly managed the situation well with his support staff. When i left of them were taken to ICU & I reached home to take some rest.

After waking up by noon I called up folks & was glad that everyone was shifted to normal ward and everyone was out of danger.

Then i went to the hospital to meet them. By this time most of the family members were already there & my friends were screwed by their parents & wives.

Other irony for them was they were getting calls from friends & relatives and they had to explain what has happened to everyone. I think each of them would have explained the situation to friends, relatives, cops & hospital staff at-least 50 times each.

I didn’t want them to be serious and we started making joke of the situation and we all made hospital as a get-together event. Now they are all out of danger & letz prey for their speedy recovery.

Will keep you all posted about their recovery process.

My blog helps to connect separated family

One of my dearest friend got separated from his biological uncle because of a tussle between his father and his fathers brothers. Two days back i got a call from a person claiming to be my friend’s cousin and he asked for my friends contact details to get re-united.

Then i passed my friends mobile number to his cousin and it was nice that they interacted.

I’m not specifying my friends name because my friends father is not interested with this re-union. But i’m happy because google & my blog has help someone to find their lost ones even they were unable to get re-united again.

Challenging visit to Mayiladuthurai

Had to drive to Mayiladuthurai to attend a friends wedding. I had to drive my parents & aunt for the marriage. Though i love to go for such drives i had hard time as i had to drive during a hot day on 1st June. On reaching the town by noon we reached my aunt’s home to take a short nap. Agony started again & there was no power and we had to sleep under a Fan which ran on a inverter. After waking up we all took bath and reached the Marriage Hall.

It was time to meet all the cousins and pull down each other. Other side elders were introducing us to other distant relatives. WE were there in the hall for 4 hours and time went in a jiffy.

Then we came back to aunt’s house only to find that the power hasn’t come back. I went to a nearby Hotel named PAMS which had only one AC room and i blocked the room immediately. When i picked my sister, mom & granny power came back. Sadly hotel denied a refund and we all stayed in the hotel.

Next day we all got up by 5 AM and reached the hall by 6 AM for marriage. Again 5 hours went like a giffy. But the hall was too hot for us to stay till noon. After the dinner we immediately started to drive back to Chennai.

Since i drove the previous day & because of poor sleep i was very tired & with great difficulty i drove back home. After that i had a slept immediately by 6 PM and got up only at 10 AM the next day.

Lessons from a frog in boiling water

Just came across this finding & we can take a lot of cues form this in our life. Like a frog we all react when there is instant change / impact in life and we ignore slow change / impact in life.

If the temperature of the water is suddenly increased, the frog realises it and jumps out of the water.

But if the temperature is very slowly increased, one degree at a time, the frog does not realise it till it boils to death.

5 things I can’t do

  1. Telling a girl that she is beautiful in front of her face…
  2. Stop offering Bribe & accepting penalty for mistakes I do (mostly Traffic relates ones)…
  3. Stop watching movies…
  4. Laugh when I’m upset or angry…
  5. Being on DIET…

From Alleppey to Chennai

My original plan after my tour of Alleppey was to get back to Madurai and then return to Chennai. But i was scared of Laxman’s driving and i decided to get back to Chennai directly as i had a company with Rooban. So this is what happened;

  • We had no bus from Alleppey but there was a train by 4 PM. Rooban assumed it would be full and he suggested going to Cochin will give us more options.
  • We boarded a Bus to Cochin with was one and half hour drive from Alleppey.
  • Cochin was hot but was very nice city with was calm & had all attributes of a city.
  • We got down and went to a place called M.G.Road which was a shopping area having lots of Big shopping centers.
  • The same road had offices of many Private bus operators office & all the busses to Chennai were full.
  • Then we took another auto and went to government bus-stand. Here all busses to Chennai have already left. Also bus to Pondycherry was full.
  • Then we took an auto and went to Railway station only to find all trains running full.
  • Then again came back to Government Bus-stop.
  • Only choice was to board a bus to Coimbatore and the choice were a Trivandrum – Coimbatore bus which was about to come by 4.30 & a bus to Coimbatore from Cochin by 5.30.
  • Since it was 3 o clock we had to wait till 4.30 & all bus had route names in malayalam and things were again confusing.
  • Still bus to Coimbatore hasn’t arrived and we decided to board a bus to Tirupur and thought of boarding a bus to Coimbatore from there.
  • When we sat we got an announcement telling Trivandaram – Coimbatore bus has arrived and we were lucky to get a cramped last seat.
  • We had a hectic bumpy journey and we travelled through Tirupur – Palakkad & finally reached Coimbatore by 11 PM.
  • Coimbatore is a place which doesn’t have a night life. Even second show movies starts by 8.30. Hotels gets closed by 10 PM.
  • All bus to Chennai have left & again we had to work on options.
  • We had a choice of leaving to our relatives house and start the next day. But i didn’t want to do that because the hard travel from Alleppey will become useless.
  • We were lucky to get a cramped Mini bus which was overly dumped and no space to even stretch our legs.
  • We had to immediately board the bus and we have no time to have dinner too.
  • Then after 2 hours of drive driver stopped to have some tea and there i had a Maaza and we started again.
  • Finally the bus reached Chennai by 9.30 AM.

Finally reached Chennai after a hectic travel for 21 consecutive hour. All this was possible only because of the the Ayurvedic Massage i had in Alleppey which kept my body cool.

Alleppey Experience

It was very stressful and I went to Kumily along with my Madurai 3 weeks back. There we planned & decided to goto Alleppey, Alapuzzha & spend a day in House Boat. From then we were counting days the day. I travelled to Madurai last Thursday and reached Madurai. Then following are the events that happened;

  • Reached Madurai refreshed & Took bath.
  • Then went to Manoj’s juice shop and Laxman picked me up in 10 min.
  • From there we went to a supermarket and made some purchase.
  • From there went to Marverick GYM met friends & asked Sathish to get ready.
  • Then went back to Manoj’s house and picked him form there.
  • Manoj went to attend a small Shop-opening & Laxman and I went to Medical shop and brought some medicines.
  • Then went to Toddy shop has toddy.
  • Picked up Sathish & started to drive to Alleppey by 12 noon.

We took Theni, Cumbam, Kimily – Alleppey road which is a Ghat Road. As usual it was a pleasent Gods own Country and i’m thrilled to see houses which were big and small towns having good looking girls, posh houses, good roads etc.

As usual it was Laxman driving style which made me & sathish sick and we had to sleep to avoid side effects. After hectic 6 hours drive we reached Alleppey with the help of Google Maps which navigated us to the place.

Then we stayed in a hotel called Arcadia Regency. To be frank it was a good hotel in apprearance otherwise;

  • It had a swimming pool which was small & poorly maintained.
  • Rooms were very average with flickering lights.
  • Toilets were average too.
  • Service was also poor.

But we had a wonderful party & we all crashed to sleep without our conscious and i was the first to crash to bed. Then it was Laxman & I who got up early in the morning and then we went to buy fish for people who are Non-Veg and wanted to have Sea food. We first went to the beach and we were told catching was poor that day and the minimal amount of fish they caught had to sent to the market. We immediately went to the market and brought different verity of fish & crabs for Rs.5000/-.

Then we had a swim in the hotel swimming pool and we proceeded to board our House Boat and we were 3 hours late.

We sailed some 50 KM that day before we halted by 6 PM. Again it was great fun and we all were partying hard and last guys to crash were Laxman & I. Then i slept in the morning and got up a hour before we landed again.

Over all it was a great experience because we went with friends. But it has other challenges too like;

  • Sathish went ill and he is hospitalized for last four days because of food poisoning.
  • Rooban got hold of Malaria.
  • This was not the right time to travel as it was too hot and not enjoyable. But tariff of house boat are at its low because it was off season.
  • One great lesson too. We went there thought a friend and he arranged a boat for us and they charged us Rs.9000/- for house boat for a day. But when went enquired later the charge for the boat was Rs.6000/- only. So visit different House Boat  agents and take best call.

Other than that it was a great experience and here are some snaps of our House Boat;
